  • Your energytools

  • The EnergyTools will help you to manage your usage. Once you know how to make the most of them, you’ll be able to do this more efficiently and save money. Try looking at your EnergyTools on your iplan account while following our simple guide:

  • LikeForLike

iplan LikeForLike w/white edgeLikeForLike is useful if you’ve set yourself a target to use less energy. It lets you compare your usage with that of a previous period of time, for example, today with yesterday or this month with last month.

Try comparing today’s use with yesterdays. Just click on today’s date on the Day graph, and then click LikeForLike. What you’ve used today is shown by the green line. What you used yesterday is shown by the blue line. The total amount of energy you’ve used today is shown in the green box in the top right of the screen, with yesterday’s total in the blue box.

When you compare a month, season or year with the previous one, the green bars on the graph show you this month’s use and the previous period will be in blue outline bars.

    BaseCheck

iplan BaseCheck w/white edgeBaseCheck lets you know when your home’s energy usage is at its lowest or its baseload.

On the day graph, the dotted blue line shows your baseline level (the lower it is the better), and any blue shaded areas show when your usage was at or below this level. You’ll only see the BaseCheck icon on your display when your usage is below the baseline level. The blue box in the top right of the screen shows the total time spent at baseload.

On your month, season or year graphs, the blue bars show the total amount of energy used at baseload compared to the total energy used for the current period.

    MaxAlert

iplan MaxAlert w/white edgeMaxAlert lets you know when your home’s using more energy than usual.

On the day graph, the blue shaded areas show your high usage times. So you can see when lots of appliances have been used at once or when an appliance has accidentally been left on. When you use a lot more energy than usual, you’ll be able to see the MaxAlert icon on your display. The blue box at the top right of the screen shows the total time spent at MaxAlert.

On your month, season or year graphs, the blue bars show the total amount of high energy usage compared with total energy use for the current period.

    TargetTrack

iplan TargetTrack w/white edgeTargetTrack lets you see how you’re performing in relation to your personal energy target.

On the day graph, the blue shaded areas show the times when your usage was too high to meet your target. During these times, you’ll have seen the TargetTrack icon on your display. If you use more electricity than your daily target, the graph will be shaded from the time you went over your target until the end of the day. The blue box at the top right of the screen shows the total time spent over your target.

On your month, season and year graphs, the blue lines show what your target is compared with your total energy usage. If you want to change your target, just click on ‘Change your target’ from the ‘Your Usage’ page and use the sliding dot in the green bar. Just remember to sync your display afterwards to update it with your new target.

    GridWatch

iplan GridWatch w/white edgeGridWatch tells you about your energy use between 4pm and 7pm, when the national demand for electricity is high.

On the day graph, the blue shaded area shows your usage during the GridWatch hours. The blue box at the top right of the screen shows the total amount of energy you used during this time. You’ll be able to see the Gridwatch icon on your display between 4pm and 7pm.

On your month, season and year graphs, the blue bars show the total amount of energy you’ve used during GridWatch hours compared with total energy you’ve use for whole period of time. Be kind to the environment and try to cut down on your energy use during GridWatch hours.

    LikeMe

iplan LikeMe w/white edgeLikeMe lets you compare your home to similar homes. You can easily see if there’s anything more you could be doing to save energy and money.

On the day graph the blue line shows the average energy use of homes like yours. It’ll probably look smoother than yours because of the way the usage is averaged out over lots of homes. The blue box at the top right of the screen shows the average amount of energy used by homes like yours.

On your month, season and year graphs, the blue outline bars show the average total energy use for the period. You’ll need to have answered the ‘Your House’ and ‘Your Appliances’ questions to make sure the LikeMe EnergyTool works properly. You can find these questions in the ‘Your Energy Efficiency’ section of your online iplan account.

    EveryoneElse

iplan EveryoneElse w/white edgeEveryoneElse lets you compare your usage with other iplan customers.

On the day graph the blue line shows the average energy use of all iplan customers. This line will probably look smoother than yours because of the way the usage is averaged out across all iplan customers. The blue box at the top right of the screen shows the average amount of energy used by all iplan customers for the period viewed.

On the month, season and year graphs the blue outline bars show the average total energy use of all iplan customers for the period.

    Spend

iplan Spend w/white edgeSpend tells you how much energy you're using in pounds and pence.

On the month, season and year graph the green bars show your total electricity spend in pounds for the period. The blue bars show your spend on standing charge. Spend information isn’t available on the day power graph.

Once you know how to make the most of using your EnergyTools and graphs, you’ll be able to manage your energy more efficiently and save money.
