  • Changing the name on your bill

  • We understand that there’ll be times that you’ll need to get the names changed on your bill. Whether you’ve moved, married, divorced or are recently bereaved, we’re here to help.

    We’ll just need a few details to update the account and make sure any future correspondence is sent to the right people.

  • What do I need to do ?

    If someone has moved out of the property you live in, or someone else has moved in, please let us know and we'll make sure the right name is on the account.

    Contact us  with the account numbers that need to be amended and we’ll do the rest.

    If you’re dealing with accounts for someone who’s passed away, we have a dedicated team to help you. Contact us and we’ll make sure you talk to the right people.

    What information do I need ?

    We'll need dates, meter readings, names to be changed and forwarding addresses. We'll also need to know:

    • Who you are and your relationship to the account holder.
    • A contact telephone number.
    • If someone has passed away, the date that this happened.

    Depending on the circumstances we may also need to know:

    • If someone who already lives there will become responsible for the bills, we’ll also need to have a quick chat with them to confirm they’re happy.
    • If the property is privately owned we’ll need to know if it’s going to be sold or transferred to a new occupier. We’ll need the date that this is due to happen and the name of the new owner or occupier.
    • If the property is rented, we’ll need to know who's taking over the property and when.

    Do I need to provide anything else ?

    We may sometimes need to see some paperwork to make any changes to the name on the bills.

    In some circumstances we'll request copies of tenancy agreements or death certificates for gas and electricity accounts. But we’ll let you know if we need anything.  

    We'll always ask for them for home telephone service accounts. We’ll let you know where to send them when you contact us.
