Most of the money we spend on energy goes on heating our homes. And the last thing you'd want to do is waste it. But if your home isn't insulated properly, you could be doing just that. The right level of insulation can make a big difference to your energy costs, and in some circumstances we can help you to access it for free too.
Up to 25% of the heat in your home is lost through the roof and up to 35% through the walls so insulating them gives you the biggest savings on your energy bills. In fact a good standard of loft and cavity wall insulation could save you up to £310# a year in total.
If you know what insulation your home already has, why not take our energy efficiency survey? We'll let you know if it needs improving and what you could save by doing so. In general, if your home is more than seven years old, chances are it can probably be improved by installing better insulation.
Most modern homes have cavity walls which is two layers of brick with a gap in between. Insulating this gap and insulating your loft are usually straightforward when carried out by a professional. If you're good at DIY you could even look at insulating your loft yourself - just be careful!
We'll do everything we can to answer your questions and provide advice regarding home insulation. Just call our Energyline on 0800 072 7201* and we'll be happy to help.
Depending on your circumstances, we may be able to supply you with free loft and cavity wall insulation. You may also be interested in Green Deal, an initiative to help people install energy saving measures like insulation, without paying large, upfront costs.
