Team Scottish Hydro is the innovative sponsorship that will see Scottish Hydro support five players who play on the European Challenge Tour as well as two players from the Ladies European Tour.

The players selected for the 2013 season are Jack Doherty, Andrew McArthur, Jamie McLeary, George Murray, Lloyd Saltman, Pamela Pretswell and Kylie Walker.

Scottish Hydro, in association with the Scottish Golf Union, supports the Scottish Golf Club Card - a new national membership benefits programme designed to add more value to being a member of a golf club in Scotland. The Club Card will allow golf club members to access a range of benefits as part of their club subscription fee to the governing bodies.

Also linked to the Centralised Database of Handicaps (CDH), an online initiative to improve the tracking of handicapping for clubs and members in Scotland with more than 160,000 golfers uploaded, it is hoped the Scottish Golf Club Card will also help clubs with their marketing efforts to attract and retain members.

The Scottish Hydro Challenge hosted by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts was launched in 2009 and players participating have included 1999 British Open Champion Paul Lawrie, victorious Ryder Cup player Edoardo Molinari and multiple European Tour winner Matteo Manassero.

The event has been won by two Scotsman – Jamie McLeary in 2009 and George Murray in 2010 and the 2012 event, which was held in Aviemore, was won for the second time by Sam Walker.
