    Fiddler's Ferry

FiddlersFerryFiddler's Ferry Power Station is proud to support its local community with its free Educational Resource Centre. We can show you how Fiddler's Ferry Power Station, and other SSE sites, produce electricity in a reliable and sustainable way.

We have a variety of activities and resources in our exhibition room for primary and secondary schools (Key Stage 2 & 3). These are ideal for topics such as energy, electricity and sustainability.

We can deliver specific educational objectives for Key Stage 4 and further education in our conference room. Perhaps you're a college carrying out a specific project or coursework on industry. We cover issues such as safety, environment, sustainability, energy from coal and biomass, flue gas desulphurisation and much more. Also, our nature reserve offers a wealth of wildlife, ideal for studying habitats, food chains/webs and ecological sampling from primary school level to university.

All our activities are tailored to deliver your curriculum needs and aim to deliver a high level of service. Please get in touch to see how we can help.

    Pitlochry Visitor Centre

PitlochryPowerStationAt the Visitor Centre in Pitlochry, we show you how hydro electricity is generated, the dam in action and from the viewing chamber, maybe even salmon swimming up a ‘ladder’!

We will teach you about the working and living conditions endured by ‘The Hydro Boys’, who built the hydro-electric schemes, and how they changed the lives of the people living in northern Scotland.

School groups are welcome to visit, explore the centre and ask questions. It’s a fun day out and a great way to start discussions about energy use and production.

    Plan a visit

The visitor centre is open from April to October, Monday to Friday, 10am to 5:30pm

Admission to the exhibition, salmon viewing chamber and shop is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
